Dave is the Course Leader for BA(Hons) Entertainment Media Design and a lecturer/practioner in Interaction Design at St Helens College, Merseyside. In 2008 he began a practice-based PhD at Edinburgh College of Art, researching interaction design from a visual communication perspective. His first paper is entitled Interaction Design: Where’s the Graphic Designer in the Graphical User Interface?

Dave was awarded a MA New Media Production from International Centre for Digital Content (ICDC) in 2006. He also has a BA(Hons) Design and Art Direction and a HND Design (Communication). His professional background was as an illustrator and publisher before becoming a lecturer. His first digital interactive product was built in 1995 as an online illustration portfolio.

As a lecturer since 2001 Dave has been a module leader for: Designing for Interaction, Digital Tools, Shaping the Web, Graphical Interface Design, Interactive Design, Ideas & Concepts and Research Techniques. He was Course Leader for FD Interactive Multimedia Arts and Animation between 2003-08 and between 2005-07 he was (acting) Course Leader for FdA Computer Game Design. He is a HE representative on the HE Marketing Committee, and a prospective external examiner for Staffordshire University’s Digital Media and Design Foundation Degrees.
